Meritorious Award

While the 20, 30 and 40 Year Service Awards recognise personal contributions over a substantial length of time, FPA Australia will also recognise those members who make a standout contribution.

Those members who have received an Honorary Life Membership are eligible to apply for an Honorary Life Member Award.  Members who have made a contribution in some way that requires special acknowledgement may be nominated for a Meritorious Award.  Meritorius Awards are at the discretion of the Board of Directors and may be made for one or more of the following reasons:

Contribution to a technical committee, special interest group, state divisional committee or the Board of Directors over a reasonable period of time involvement in a project relating to the fire protection industry where a major personal contribution has been made, representation of the Association at a local, state, federal or international level in pursuit of the goals of the Association.

The Meritorious Service Award may be awarded to members or non-members and does not depend on length of service.  A maximum of two may be made in any calendar year.  The award is presented at the annual Fire Protection Industry Awards Gala Dinner.

A V Viscogliosi Award

The A.V. Viscogliosi award recognises "Excellence for Outstanding Service to Fire Protection".  The award was established in 1996 (not awarded until 1998) in honour of the late Tony Viscogliosi.  It commemorates the significant contribution Tony made to the fire protection industry throughout his distinguished and varied career by recognising the work of a deserving individual currently working in fire protection.

Selection Process

The A.V. Viscogliosi Award recipient is nominated, and selected, by FPA Australia's Board of Directors.  The award is presented at the annual Fire Protection Industry Awards Gala Dinner.
