Join us for a day event to learn about bushfire planning system in Western Australia.

Our first speaker, Charles Johnson, Principal of Planning Context consultancy, will cover topics of land use planning processes, subdivision and Development Applications, Planning Conditions and State Administrative Tribunal. You will develop knowledge and understanding around land use planning, legislative framework, its application and the role of bushfire consultants.
A better understanding of the planning framework and its operation will strengthen relationships with and improve understanding of the roles with government agencies.

The afternoon session includes two speakers. The first is a presentation by Greg Flowers, Senior Technical Officer from the Building and Energy division of the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (Building Commission). Greg will provide an update on the recent audit into bushfire building compliance in Western Australia and highlight key areas of concern for the industry.

Our third speaker, Anthony Rowe, Senior Bushfire Consultant with Emerge Associates, will address the recent changes to AS3959-2018 and the introduction of the Bushfire Verification Method in National Construction Code.  Anthony, in addition to Bushfire, has a planning, building and local government background, and will present an overarching perspective on the changes and how these will affect our daily practice in WA.

There will be plenty of opportunities for you to ask questions, engage with industry stakeholders and network with bushfire consultants, government agencies and key stakeholders.
