Launch of the Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS)
Are you, or the professionals you use, competent? Is that competence recognised?
Changes to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 in 2017 mean that anyone:
· designing a fire system; or
· conducting an annual fire safety assessment
must be a competent fire safety practitioner (CFSP).
The onus for confirming this competence rests with the owner of a building, their agent, or the certifier of any work, but there is no formally recognised method available to demonstrate competence.
The Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS) is a useful way to ensure practitioners are appropriately skilled to carry out their work.
The scheme, run by Fire Protection Association Australia, provides accreditation for fire safety designers and fire safety assessors to take the guesswork out of compliance.
Open to all practitioners, FPAS provides certainty for owners, managers, and certifiers and helps to reduce their professional risks significantly.
This seminar will discuss the scheme and its implications for effective fire safety.
