The NCC 2019 Deemed to Satisfy Requirements for these systems has changed! What are the new requirements? What you should know!
A building occupant warning system (BOWS) is critical to alert occupants of a fire event so that they can commence evacuation of the building. A BOWS consists of equipment and devices that provide audible and visual alarms to occupants of a building, upon the receipt of a fire alarm signal from a fire detection system or device or manual activation. Emergency warning systems and sound systems for emergency purposes are also BOWS.
With the release of the NCC 2019 referenced 2018 edition of AS 1670.1 (Fire Detection, warning, control and intercom systems – System design, installation and commissioning – Part 1 Fire), the Deemed to Satisfy (DtS) requirements of Building Occupant Warning Systems (Clase 3.22) have changed.
Do you know if the Emergency Warning System or Building Occupant Warning System equipment you are purchasing, installing, approving or certifying is compliant?
