Meet the speakers

Stephen Oxley  

Steve Oxley is Wormald’s National Product Manager for Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems.

Steve is responsible for vehicle system design and development, troubleshooting, fire risk assessments and sales and training both nationally and internationally.

Steve joined Wormald in 1976 and has over 40 years’ experience in the vehicle fire suppression industry.

Steve is an active member of FPA Australia’s Technical Advisory Committee for Special Hazard Fire Protection, TAC11/22, and FPA Australia’s representative on Standards Australia committee FP-022, which is responsible for AS 5062.


Dr Christopher Preston  

Dr. Christopher Preston is a Group Leader within CSIRO Infrastructure Technologies, CSIRO. 

Christopher leads the CSIRO Fire Systems Laboratory which provides evaluation and testing services related to all types of fire detection, alarm, emergency warning, and suppression systems, and the CSIRO Acoustics laboratory, which provides sound insulation and absorption testing of building elements. 

Christopher is a member of the FPAA TAC/2, TAC/11/22, and Standards Australia FP-003, FP-011 and FP-022.



Brett Staines (Chairman TAC 11/22 and FP-022)

Brett Staines has a strong background in Special Hazards having been involved in the fire protection industry in a variety of roles for over 30 years.

Brett's career has included fire incident command, system design & testing, product development, application engineering, training, project management and participation in FPA Australia, Standards Australia and ISO technical committees.

He received the A.V. Viscogliosi Award for "Excellence and Outstanding Service to Fire Protection" in 2009 and the Barry Lee Award for "Technical Excellence" in 2018.  He is the chairman of TAC 11/22 and Standards Australia committees FP-011 and FP-022.
